Network structure

the basic layout of the network in 157, and the connection to the lab in bat. 168:

Note: sw-main-tb is not a misnomer - the switch is a late addition, and is supposed to replace the current central switch swctrl01 (a dell 24 port), which has all ports used up already.

IP addresses

The complete daq.lhcb domain uses the 10.135.0.0/16 ip range, i.e. all hosts' controls interfaces have an address of the form 10.135.x.y. So far two sub-net are used:

  lab 2-r-16    10.135.150.0/24    (i.e. 10.135.150.x)
  velo assembly lab    10.135.151.0/24    (i.e. 10.135.151.x)

Note that the connection to the lab 2-r-16 is via a tunnel (c.f. Tunnels), while we have an optical fibre link to the VELO lab, thus it is directly integrated in our network.
